Lifecycle


The six lifecycle stages of Remnant products are:

1. Materials may include:

  • Textiles: Organic cotton, organic cotton thread, organic cotton tape, organic merino.
  • Dyes: Natural Dyes including Purple Logwood, Cutch, Madder, Fustic, Weld, Cochineal, Tannin, Pomegranate.
  • Biodegradable Chemicals: Alum (potassium aluminum sulfate), Aluminum acetate, Calcium Carbonate, Cream of Tartar (Potassium Bitartrate), Iron (ferrous sulfate), Soda Ash (Sodium carbonate), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid).
  • Internal Labels: Organic fairtrade cotton. Water-based, Acid free, non-toxic ink.
  • External Brand Label: Polyester woven damask label.

2. Packaging: 50% recycled and 100% recyclable cardboard mailers, water based, non-toxic inks are used in printing. 3M 100% repulpable box sealing tape.

3. Product Design, Manufacturing and Assembly: Patterns hand drawn and manually graded on Kraft Liner Board, cut out with Mundial Serra Sharp scissors. Marked out with non-toxic water-soluble pen, hand cut with Mundial shears, assembly tools may include: Siruba sewing machines, Touro Tesoura snips, Red Arrow snips, Philips iron, OHAUS scales, Asko washing machine, Fisher and Paykel washing machine and Montarga hand stamps.

4. Transport and Distribution: NZ post, international air freight.

5. Use and Service: Cold machine wash with like colours, wash inside out. Please use an environmentally friendly detergent, preferably pH neutral. Line dry in shade. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean. Do not tumble dry. Warm iron.

6. End of Life: Reuse garments for plant ties or rags. All of Remnant’s garments are biodegradable and compostable. Remove external polyester damask label before cutting up into small pieces for composting.
